Geena Chen (’16) is a photographer and poet interested in self-portrayal and how, as we change our relationship with ourselves, those changes become outwardly visible. These pieces, combining digital and film photography, were all produced in the darkroom. In them, different time periods are stitched together and forced to interact within a single frame.

When I was younger I used to imagine how convenient it would be if humans radiated emotions as colors, glowing orange when lecherous, blue when blue. Now I realize how annoying the world would be blinking feelings. But in the faux natural world of the Reptile Room, the inhabitants don’t complain.
